From Assistants to Partners

Student-faculty partnerships are a growing practice in scholarship of teaching & learning (SoTL) projects. They can foster greater student engagement higher education and help advance experiences. For graduate students, particular those pursuing academic careers, such offer opportunities for development their professional identities as emerging SoTL scholars. In this article, we expand upon previous theorizations to include the unique attributes partnerships, terms longer timeframes, increased complexity, long-term goals. Drawing on two-year study, present three-layer framework characterizing key successful student-faculty partnership: 1) individual partnership, 2) collective 3) outcomes partnership. The is grounded literature illustrative examples from our experiences students faculty members working together partnership with project. This offers structured mechanism inform, create, enhance capacity research.
